Want to buy, sell, or trade crypto without leaving your Deriv account? Deriv Exchange lets you do exactly that. Here's a simple guide to get you started.

‍

Before you start

A few things to check before you begin:

  • You'll need a Deriv real account. There's no demo option. Just basic KYC (identity verification) to get started.
  • Your Exchange account creates itself. No separate sign-up. It activates the first time you open Crypto.
  • Deposits and withdrawals go through your Deriv Wallet. Direct external wallet funding isn't available yet.

‍

How to trade on Deriv Exchange

The whole process takes just a few minutes.

Step 1: Open the Crypto section

There are three ways to get there, shown numbered in the screenshot below:

  1. From Deriv dashboard, look for the banner labelled "Deriv Exchange."
  2. Go to the Explore Deriv section and tap the Crypto tile.
  3. Click Crypto on the sidebar menu.

Your Exchange account is created automatically the moment you interact with it. There's no separate registration or login step.

‍

Step 2: Deposit funds into your Deriv Wallet

Fund your Deriv Wallet using any deposit method (bank transfer, e-wallet, or on-chain crypto). Then, in the Crypto tab, tap Deposit and select your asset.

Remember: You can't transfer directly from an external crypto wallet to the Exchange yet. Everything routes through your Deriv Wallet first.

Step 4 (optional): Fund your Futures account

You can find the Futures section by tapping Explore on the banner labelled "Futures trading."

How to withdraw

To cash out, transfer funds from the Exchange (Spot) to your Deriv Wallet, then withdraw as usual. Direct on-chain withdrawals aren't supported yet.

‍

A couple of things to remember

  • Spot and Futures are separate balances. Deposits and withdrawals go through Spot only. You'll need to transfer funds to Futures manually.
  • Simple mode vs Advanced mode. Use Simple mode for quick Buy/Sell orders; switch to Advanced for Limit, Stop Limit, Iceberg orders, or Futures.
  • Need help? Reach out via the Deriv Help centre or live chat.

FAQs

Is there a demo account for Deriv Exchange?

No. Exchange requires a Deriv real account. There's no demo version. You'll need basic profile information (KYC) to get started, though full identity verification isn't required initially.

Can I deposit crypto directly into the Exchange from an external wallet?

Not yet. All deposits and withdrawals must go through your main Deriv Wallet first. From there, you transfer funds into your Exchange Spot account.

What's the difference between my Spot and Futures balances?

They're kept completely separate. Your Spot account is funded from your Deriv Wallet and used for direct market buying/selling. Your Futures account is funded by transferring USDT from Spot and is used for leveraged trading. Neither balance tops up the other automatically.

Do I need Advanced mode to use Limit or Stop Limit orders?

Yes. Simple mode (accessed from the Crypto menu on the Deriv dashboard) only supports market Buy/Sell orders. Limit, Stop Limit, and Iceberg orders, along with Futures trading, are only available in Advanced mode.

How do I withdraw funds from Deriv Exchange?

Transfer your funds from the Exchange (Spot) back to your Deriv Wallet, then withdraw using your usual Deriv withdrawal method. Direct on-chain withdrawals from the Exchange aren't currently available.

Do I need to complete identity verification before I start trading?

No. You can get started with basic profile information (KYC). Your existing Deriv account verification requirements still apply as you continue using the platform, consistent with standard Deriv account policies.
